Scene description: Cars fly along the Mulsanne Straight at over 200mph past the Hotel des Hunaudieres that is open 24 hours, even during the race.  the time of filming guests could sit outside, eat a meal and watch the cars whiz by with no Armco or debris fencing to protect them. Today there is a substantial barrier along with catch fencing in place, although you can still eat on the patio.

Claude Aurac (Luc Merenda) in #7 comes around a corner and spins as he tries to avoid hitting Stahler and in doing so is launched into the trees, Claude manages to get out of the wreck just before it explodes.  is the only part of the Le Mans circuit to have more or less kept its original shape.

It's clearly seen at the start of the movie where Mike Delaney (Steve McQueen) gets out and stares at a spot behind the Armco barrier. Flashback to a night race at Le Mans, a crash and explosion.

Probably one of the most famous corners in road racing.  signaling pits were also based here just after the bend, long before radios were used in racing, crews would telephone to signalers who would hold up information for the passing drivers.

Now protected behind fencing but back in the early 70s the lower part of each trunk was painted white to help the drivers see at night.
